Slow Peace : Methods and Techniques for Teachers
10th June | 3:00pm (CET)
The recorded video can be found in Jai Jagat YouTube channel.
Maria Montessori once said, “Establishing lasting peace is the work of education; all politics can do is keep us out of war.” But how do we truly #teachforpeace ? One answer is through #slowpeace .
Slow peace is an approach to education based in Gandhian values that has grown out of the work of a group of educators in Canada. It is based on constant re-evaluation and revision of practice to ensure that #ahimsa is built into every aspect of what a teacher does.
In this session of Slow Peace : Methods and Techniques for Teachers, a panel of some of the originators of slow peace come together in discussions about what they are doing in their classrooms and their lives to teach for peace and justice. The session will provide examples for other educators as well as community activists on how to engage young people in learning for peace.
Speakers : Dr Reva Joshee (Canada), Lorena Julio (Argentina), Simone Shirvell (Canada), Monica Thomas (Canada), Kristi Mahood (Canada)
